On July 19th, the 15th Summer Training Course on Taoist Culture and Management, jointly organized by Hong Kong Peng Ying Xian Guan and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, held its closing ceremony. Kuang Sheng, Secretary General of the China Taoist Association, attended and delivered a speech. 20 teachers and students from China Taoist Academy have completed the training and successfully graduated.
Secretary General Kuang Sheng pointed out that this training program not only continues the excellent tradition of mutual learning and exchange between the two Taoist communities over the past 20 years, but also provides an important platform for cultivating new era Taoist talents through an innovative curriculum system that integrates Taoist classics with modern management. The spirit of upholding righteousness and innovation demonstrated by the Hong Kong Taoist community in the process of modernization provides valuable experience for deepening the practice of sinicization of Taoism. He emphasized the need to take talent cultivation as the starting point and cultural inheritance as the mission, continuously promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Taoist culture, and hopes that students will transform what they have learned into practical actions to promote the healthy inheritance of Taoism.
Director Leung Tak wah, Chairman of the Hong Kong Pengying Immortal Hall, stated at the ceremony that based on the unique advantages of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures in Hong Kong, we will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the local teaching community, and jointly promote excellent traditional Chinese culture. Especially within the framework of the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, we will jointly create a hub for the dissemination of Taoist culture, collaborate to cultivate Taoist talents with both traditional cultivation and modern perspectives, provide Taoist wisdom to enhance the national identity and cultural confidence of Hong Kong compatriots, and assist in the stable and far-reaching implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.
The Taoist Culture and Management Summer Training Program has been successfully held for multiple sessions since its establishment in 2006, becoming an important brand project in the Taoist community in mainland China and Hong Kong. This training course is resumed after being suspended due to the epidemic in 2019. The courses cover the interpretation of Taoist classics, modern palace and temple management, and the study of scientific rituals and ceremonies. During the training period, teachers and students from the China Academy of Taoism visited major Taoist temples in Hong Kong, where they shared mystical experiences and studied Taoism with members of the Hong Kong Taoist community. Their excellent professional ethics and diligent pursuit of knowledge demonstrated during the training period have received unanimous praise from the organizers and teaching staff.
Secretary General Kuang Sheng also visited Hong Kong's Sike Garden and Pengying Immortal Hall, and had discussions with members of the Hong Kong Taoist Association, including Li Yaohui from the Sike Garden Supervisory Institute and Chen Guochao, Chairman of the Yuan Xuan Academy. They discussed further cooperation between the Taoist communities in mainland China and Hong Kong, and conducted in-depth exchanges to jointly promote the modernization and internationalization of Taoism.
